Barbara LeMunyan Kurz, 92, of Providence, RI, formerly of Allentown, PA, died
Tuesday August 23, 2011 after a brief illness. She died peacefully surrounded by
Born in Brooklyn NY, the daughter of Burdette and Pearle (Fidler) Leymunyan,
Barbara and her sister Jean grew up on The Isle of Mann. She came to the United
States as a teenager to attended Mount Holyoke College.
She met her first husband, John Ormai, while both were students in New York City
at The Art Student's League in 1938, working for renowned muralist Jean Charlot
during the WPA constructing murals in New York City and at The University of
Georgia which stand to this day. Throughout her life she was an artist in her
thoughts, actions, spirit, and appreciation of life.
After moving to Allentown in 1966 she married John Kurz. Upon his death in
1991, she moved to Rhode Island to be near her daughters.
Preceded in death by first husband John Ormai, son Felix Ormai, second husband
John Kurz, and sister Jean Collet. Survived by daughters Stella Ormai and
Christina Vieira, son Aaron Theodore Ormai; four grandchildren: Angelia (Flinn)
Roussell, Maya Flinn, Samuel Osborne, Zachary Osborne; two great grandchildren:
Lily Roussell and James Roussell III; and second husband John Kurz's children:
Peter, Tibor,Tim, Marta, Tamas, and their children.
She will be dearly missed by all.
A private service was be held for the immediate family.
