Byron H. Barsamian, 66, of North Providence, RI, was a self employed language instructor and translator. He died peacefully and unexpectedly in his home. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Haig and Margaret (Aharonian) Barsamian. He leaves behind a loving daughter, Melanie Joy and a devoted brother, David. Not to mention, many, many dedicated, loving friends.

Byron graduated at the top of his class from Classical High School and went on to study pre-med at Brown University. He was an extremely gifted individual with many different passions. He excelled in academics, athletics, the arts, music, and photography. His interests in language and culture drew him to pursue a career as a linguist and was fluent in English, French, Armenian and Spanish.

Mr. Barsamian played a variety of instruments including the violin, classical and electric guitar, drums and harmonica. His artwork was innovative and exploratory. He loved using oil pastels and a variety of specialty markers. An avid reader and poet, there was never a moment Byron wasn't jotting down an idea or phrase.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Byron’s name to Community Music Works, 1392 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02909 (communitymusicworks.org
