Carmino Vincenzo Coppola, 82, of Providence, RI, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was born in Providence on July 16, 1931 to the late Antonio and Rosina (née Caputo) Coppola. He was a lifelong resident of Providence.
Mr. Coppola is survived by his beloved wife and soulmate of 57 years, Barbara
Ann (née AGUIAR) Coppola, and two loving sisters, Mrs. Edmund (Viola) Carpenter of Lincoln, RI, and Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Leonti of Brooksville, FL.
He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Mrs. William (Edith) Sloan of
Willimantic, CT, and Mrs. Joseph (Carolyn) Silva of Cranston, RI, and a brother,
Mr. John Coppola of Warwick, RI. He is survived by 24 loving
nieces and nephews, and many dear cousins and friends.
Mr. Coppola was a very proud, 4 year veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed by Insulated Wire, Pawtucket, for 40 years. Mr. Coppola had been an usher at St. Ann's R.C. Church in Providence. He loved gardening and was very proud of the beautiful flowers and vegetables that he grew in his garden at his home on Charles Street. He was also a great softball player, and was a die-hard New York Yankee's Baseball fan! He was a kind and generous man, contributed to many charities, and was always willing to help out his friends and neighbors when he was asked . He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His funeral will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 11am in Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 1081 Mineral Sprig. Avenue, North Providence. Burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI, with the US Military Honor Guard present. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Mr. Coppola's memory to the charity of your choice.
