Clara Louise Selent, 83, of East Providence, RI, formerly of Onset and Holliston, MA passed away on September 10, 2011 after a yearlong struggle with declining health. She was the widow of Emil Selent to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born in Framingham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Elmer/Freeman Woodin and Bertha (Saunders) Woodin. She leaves two loving daughters, Lillian Beckerman of Onset, MA and her husband Lewis, Marilyn Pease of Westport, MA and her husband Paul, a devoted son, Emil Selent, Jr. of Delevan, NY and his wife Kimberly, four grandchildren, Meridith Pease, Benjamin Pease, Dara Salls, Emil Selent III, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Elmer Woodin (wife Linda), and Thomas Woodin (Wife Roberta), and the late Lillian Hildreth, and Robert Woodin.
Clara worked for Dennison Manufacturing Company in Framingham and Holliston, MA until her retirement in 1990. She earned a bachelor degree in business from Northeastern University after her three children were grown. She lived at United Methodist Elder Care (Winslow Gardens) for her last seven years where she enjoyed reading, outdoor gardening, singing in the choir, bible studies, card games, and Scrabble. She baked wonderful pies her family will sorely miss at holiday feasts.
Clara’s cremains will be buried next to her husband at the Bourne National Cemetary. A celebration of her life will be held November 5, 2011 at Winslow Gardens, 40 Irving Avenue, East Providence, RI and will be officiated by her brother, Rev. Thomas Woodin.
