Nathan E. Nelson, 58, of Warwick, RI died on December 22, 2011 after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Kittell) Nelson for over 38 years. Born in Fort Hood, Texas, he was the son of Katherine (Oliver) and William Nelson of Wakefield, RI.
Nathan was the proud father of Ashley Nelson, of Newport, ME and Summer Arrigo-Nelson and her husband John of Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by his mother, brother, William Nelson of Ebersdorf, Germany, and two sisters: Ann Nelson-Hartnett of Coventry, RI and Leslie Hanson of Escondido, CA. Nathan will also be missed by his grandson Milo Arrigo-Nelson.
Nathan was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island (class of 1978), worked for JT O’Connell, Inc., in a variety of positions for over thirty years, was a Lieutenant and Life Member of the Snug Harbor Volunteer Fire Department and volunteer member of the South County Ambulance and Rescue Corps.
A funeral mass will be celebrated for Nathan at St. Peter Church, 350 Fair St., Warwick, RI on January 14, 2012 at 10:00am, in the lower sanctuary (fully accessible).
