Phyllis Frances Hodges (Oliviero), 80, passed away quietly in the early hours of February 6, 2018. She was born on January 22, 1938 in Providence, RI, the only child to Thomas Oliviero and Frances Oliviero (Gomes). She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Senior (Hodges), son-in-law, David and two grandchildren, Miley (age 9) and Michael (age 6). A hard worker, Phyllis held many jobs during her lifetime, including meat wrapping, housecleaning, laundry worker and childcare. Phyllis was known for her sharp tongue and wit and for never holding her opinions back; however, those who knew her well knew that underneath it all was a very sweet and gentle soul. An animal lover all her life, Phyllis had many animal companions over the years. In chronological order they were: a white Persian cat (Sheba), a Chihuahua (Tiny), a canary (Sunshine), a greyhound mix (Snoopy), a blue parakeet (Friendly), a husky-mix (Martha) and a yellow parakeet (Chipper). Phyllis donated to many animal charities over her life as well, her favorite being the Humane Society of the United States. As a young girl, Phyllis loved roller skating and in later years, one of her greatest pleasures was watching figure skating on television. Phyllis loved talking to all different kinds of people and was always interested in details of their lives. Most of all, though, Phyllis loved spending time with her grandchildren and never tired of telling stories about them and showing pictures of them. Phyllis will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and will never be forgotten.
