Brian Farias Obituary

Brian T. Farias, 52, died unexpectedly at his home in Woonsocket, RI on June 23, 2019.  Born in Fall River, Brian was the loving son of Nancy (Oliveira) and Thomas Farias. He will be missed by his sister Tammy (Farias) Mazarella and her husband Derek, two nieces; Cheyanne and Madison Mazarella of Westport, MA. and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins from coast to coast.

Formerly of Tiverton, Rhode Island, Brian worked till his passing as a Service Technician in the medical industry.  He delivered, assembled and in-serviced extremely delicate procedure tables, medical devices and lab equipment for some of the most talented surgeons in Boston MA. He installed and repaired medical devices on site.   He continued his studies earning two degrees as a Medical Technician from Bristol Community College, Fall River, MA.  Brian began his professional culinary career as a student at Johnson & Wales University, Providence where he received an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts.

He also earned an Associate of Science in Business Management from Bristol Community College. He later worked as a University Chef at Roger Williams University and assisted in the production of 800 dinners daily. He created garnishes for all of the President’s private parties. He also worked as Food Service at Fitz Vogt & Associates.  Brian managed the food service department of a 100 resident assisted living facility.

In addition, Brian received his merchant maritime certifications MMD-STCW from the United States Coast Guard in Boston, MA.  His experience included working as a tanker/deck hand for Seaboats Inc helping the Captain dock and maneuver barges with hand radios.  The barge handled containers up and down the east coast and aided in cleanup of the New York twin towers attack on 9/11.

Outside of work, Brian was very active earning four degrees in mixed Martial Arts.  He also enjoyed fishing, painting, music, cooking, tattoos, collecting hats, stylish clothes and people.

A private mass and memorial ceremony will be announced.
