Carolyn Lou (Struk) Schneider

Mrs. Carolyn L Schneider, age 77, of Barrington passed away peacefully on November 5th, 2019 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born Carolyn Lou Struk on February 1st 1942 in Warren, Ohio as the eldest child of George and Susan Struk, she was baptized three weeks later at the Warren United Presbyterian Church. Often going by the name of Carol, she earned her Certificate of Nurse Registration on April 20th, 1964 in Ohio then married Martin Schneider Jr on May 3rd, 1964 at the Howland Community Church in Warren Ohio.

A few years later Carol and Martin moved to the East Bay area where she worked over 40 years as a registered nurse in the greater Providence metropolitan region. For over 30 years Carol was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Riverside, Rhode Island; for much of that time participated in the church choir and women’s bible study. For a time Carol also attended Saint James Lutheran church and Barrington Baptist church, both in Barrington, Rhode Island. Outside church and work, she spent time raising her family, enjoyed reading, music, caring for pets, occasional gardening and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of over 55 years Martin Schneider Jr, and their three sons, the eldest Scott Martin Schneider and his wife Karyn along with their four children Joshua, Andrew, Emily and Benjamin Schneider of Massachusetts. Her middle son, Daren Michael Schneider and his wife Audrey of Pennsylvania, and her youngest son Brian George Schneider of Rhode Island. Carol has two surviving brothers, brother Rick Struk his wife Heather; son David and daughter Karen, and Karen’s four children Gabriel, Bella, Jackson and Sofia; also niece Cherie Struk-Evan and sons Kyle and Tyler, as well as her youngest brother Kirk Struk all residents of Ohio. In Spring of 2015 she was predeceased by her eldest brother Larry Struk a resident of Providence, Rhode Island.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Carolyn will be held at 11:00am on Saturday November 30th 2019 at Pleasant Street Church in Whitinsville Massachusetts, with Pastor Pete Axelson officiating, and a luncheon to follow in her honor.

A favorite verse of hers is the 23rd psalm:

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
