Douglas David Wilson, P.E., 58, of Charlestown, RI, died at 4:58 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at South County Hospital in South Kingstown. He was the husband of Edith Chaudoin Stahlberger. Born in Jersey City, NJ, on May 4, 1953, he was the son of Walter and Wilma (Borchers) Wilson. He was a graduate of Indian Hills High School, Oakland, NJ; Keystone Jr. College; Penn State University, State College PA, BS Civil Engineering, 1977. Doug began work in 1977 as a Project Engineer with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh, PA. He continued his career with the USACE with positions in Fort Hamilton, NY; New York Harbor and KVK Channel Deepening Project; Beach Replenishment Projects for Seabright, Asbury South, North; Maywood, NJ; and Pompton Dam Construction. He retired from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers in June 2009. Doug was predeceased by his father, Walter and sister, Robin. Besides his wife Edie and stepdaughter, Eve Caroline, he is survived by his mother, brother, Barry (Terri) Wilson of Oakland, NJ, and sister, Kathy (James) Wilson Ferrara of Wyckoff, NJ. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews: Kelly Wilson and her husband Dan Bosgra, Lindsay Wilson and her husband Carl Bets, Kerrie Wilson, Jessica Birs, and Christiaan Ferrara.He was an avid sailor and the proud Captain of the EeDeToo with his First Mate, Edie. “I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.”- Oliver Wendel Holmes Family and friends will be invited to the disposition of cremains on Block Island, RI at a later date.
