Mauro Primo Obituary

Mauro Primo, 78, of Johnston, RI passed away on November 20, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Born in Italy, he had lived in Johnston since 1976. He leaves his wife Elda Primo, to whom he was married for 54 years. He is also survived by his three sons and their families: Marco and daughter Raquel; Luke, wife Evelyn, and daughter Marissa; and David, wife Neeta, and daughter Naveena. He was predeceased by Marco’s wife Jacli. He also leaves his sister, Ita Suligoi, and her husband Franco, as well as many other relatives and friends in Italy.

Mauro was a photographer who cherished his film cameras. He appreciated nature, often walking at the local park to take pictures of the geese and other wildlife. He also enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure, visiting countries spanning four continents. His love of travel reflected his appreciation for other cultures. In recent years, when travel became more difficult for him, he devoted his time to learning about new languages.

Mauro took pride in his work. His career included accounting and managerial positions at companies as varied as United Fruit Company (now part of Chiquita Brands), Qualitex (a producer of extruded rubber thread), and Rank Xerox (which helped bring Xerox’s products to Europe).

Mauro and his family are grateful for the care he received over the years from dedicated doctors, nurses, and other health care workers.
