Veronica Doyle Obituary

Our mother, Veronica Katherine Duke Doyle, died peacefully on February 21, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Michelle Lea Doyle Tiner, in Providence, Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Glasscoe Doyle, Jr. (“Coco”), her father-in-law, Walter Glasscoe Doyle, Sr., her parents, Fuller Collins Duke and Marie Veronica Duke, her sister Geraldine Edna Duke, her brother John Bernard (“Jack”) Duke, her sister Mary Francene Duke Hendrix, and her sister-in-law Lorene Grenlun Duke. Vickie leaves behind her three daughters and their husbands, Kimberley Dawn & Vernon Graner, Michelle Lea & Jason Tiner and Theresa Lynn & Mark Gietz, and her two step-daughters and their husbands, Dianne Marie & Richard Fredricksen and Julie Dawn & Greg Joyce. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren, with two more on the way. Her grandchildren, Katharine Ingrid Fredricksen, Nicholaus Kaven Graner, Amelia Marie Fredricksen, Eric Keith Fredricksen, Karees Lynn Powell, Braedon Doyle Scharen, Lucas Larry Fredricksen, Abigale Mae Tiner, Samantha Kay Graner, Madison Elizabeth Tiner, and Frances Marie Tiner will miss her greatly. She will be missed also by her husband's family: Dixie Mae Doyle, Larry and Janet Doyle, Bill, Gloria and Crystal Doyle, Monte, Jerri and Kevin Doyle, and Dick, Yara, J.T. and Justin Doyle, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Vickie had many friends, and in fact never met a stranger. She was born on 13 February 1943 in Chicago, IL, lived in St. Joseph MO, Corpus Christi, TX, and moved to the Valley in 1964. She considered herself a local and was well-loved by the Winter Texans she hosted at the Texan Guest Ranch, the staff at many area eateries, and the parishioners of St. Margaret's Catholic Church. She always tried to improve the lives she touched and never asked for any assistance for herself. Vickie lived simply yet always wanted the best for her children. She volunteered in Girl Scouts, band boosters and at many Halloween carnivals and PTA functions. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 10 am in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church , 122 Hawk Avenue in Pharr, Texas.
