Vincent L. Vento, 60, of Cranston, R.I., died peacefully Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Kent Hospital after a long illness.Born in Providence, R.I., on October 5, 1951, Vinnie was the son of the late Vincent Vento and the late Ann B. Vento. He was a graduate of North Providence High School.Vinnie was renowned throughout New England and beyond as a superb guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and all-around musician. The bands he played with (and often led) included Match, Mixed Coffee and Dick Van and the Dykes.He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa C. Vento of Johnston, R.I., his niece Erika Baum of Worcester, Mass., his beloved friend Janet Hatfield of Pawtucket, R.I., and many, many wonderful friends, admirers and music fans who will miss him tremendously.A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight St., Providence, R.I.
