Andrei Cerbu, 24, died suddenly on Block Island on May 3, 2021. Born in Bicaz, Romania, he was the dear child of Daniel and Elena Cerbu (Chiruta). Andrei was the beloved husband of Taryn MacGregor and older brother to Alexandru Cerbu.
Andrei emigrated to the US in 2016 after studying Political Science in Romania. He lived the "American Dream" living on Block Island meeting many friends in the restaurant business, as well as having his own table at the weekly farmers market in the summers. He was a skilled business man and a natural at fixing truly any single thing wether it was machinery, carpentry, or electronics and always was intrigued by how things worked and how they could be improved. That led Andrei to become a contractor and handyman eventually founding the Mosaiq Company LLC in 2020.
In 2017, he met his future wife Taryn MacGregor, along with many friends turned to family; at the restaurant of the Surf Hotel, where they worked. They shared a love of being near the water and the outdoors living year round on Block Island.
Andrei will be buried at a future date in his home country of Romania. In lieu of flowers, donations made to National Alliance on Mental Illness at namirhodeisland.org/get-involved/donate/ would be greatly appreciated.
