Bernadette Marie (Sanford) Sheldon Obituary
Bernadette was truly one of a kind. She was a fiery, wild, explosive, spontaneous, and free soul who was incredibly stubborn and a bit conceited. She toted around a suit of armor and acted like she was the tin man, she wasn't. No matter how hard she tried, we all saw her. She had a big heart and cared for everyone, especially those closest to her. She is survived by her mother Irene Zabatta, her children Donald and Kalynn Sheldon, and three great grandchildren; Tyler Gadreault, Ava Gadreault, and Grace Gadreault. Bernadette also has two siblings, George and Diane Sanford, and her brother-in-law Michael Lombari. Bernadette was also an aunt to Matthew and Devin Gosselin, Breanna Sanford, Jillian Mastrotefano, and Lyndsay Lombari. She is also survived by many other loved ones both family and friends.
Bernadette found joy in the little moments, often chatting with Kalynn on the phone at all hours, whether in silence or sharing their lives together. Her heart was as vast as her personality - she was a major ball buster with a love for playful banter, and she cared deeply about others, often stepping in to help when she could.
A lover of all things purple, from irises to her favorite movies, Bernadette had a unique flair that complemented her eccentric spirit. She could often be found beating her friends in online Scrabble or embracing her newfound love of pickleball. Karaoke nights were always an event, as she passionately belted out tunes, and while she may not have had the perfect pitch, her spirit surely brought down the house.
Bernadette's acceptance of everyone, regardless of their circumstances, made her a cherished person in many hearts. She loved and constantly worried about her son and while she could be a bit of a pain at times, her warmth and humor left a lasting impact on all who knew her. An avid fan of the Peanuts gang, Bernadette's fun-loving nature will always be remembered by her family and those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Bernadette will be lovingly remembered for her laughter, her caring heart, and her ability to bring joy to everyone around her.
A Celebration of Life party will be held in her honor on November 14, 2025, at the Phenix Sportsmans Club at 715 Main St, West Warwick R.I. starting at 6:00 p.m. This will be a private event. Dress Code: Comfy/Casual OR Wear Your Best Peanuts Shirt/Outfit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to a charity of your choice in her name, in the spirit of her dedication to helping others.
Rest easy, Bernadette. You have touched so many lives, and your spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
