Christine Anne Richard Obituary

Christine Richard, 64, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. Born on August 25, 1960, Christine was the beloved daughter of the late Robert T. Richard and Rosemary C. Lusignan. Stepdaughter of Sandra Hagopian and the late George H. Lusignan, Sr. She was predeceased by her brother, Victor Lusignan.

Christine was a passionate and dedicated member of her faith community. A communicant of The Church of St. Augustine, she was a treasured member of the church choir from 2017 to 2020, and also served as a lector. In 2020, during the challenging days of the COVID-19 pandemic, she became the Media Director for the parish, a role she held until 2021. Prior to St. Augustine's, Christine was a long-time member of St. Philip's Church, where she was an active participant in the choir, lector, and as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion from 1981 to 2016.

Christine's devotion to helping others extended beyond her church. A volunteer member of the Rhode Island Disaster Medical Assistance Team (RI DMAT) and the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) since 2009, she demonstrated a deep commitment to serving those in need in times of crisis.

Christine's career also reflected her desire to help others. She worked in several capacities, including in the Emergency Department at Kent County Hospital, the Development Office at LaSalle Academy, and in the Managed Care Department at Beltone New England. She found joy in her work, always prioritizing the well-being of others and seeing it as her life's mission to make a difference.

One of Christine's most cherished memories was when, at the age of 54, she realized a childhood dream: serving at the altar during Mass. It was a moment that brought her great joy and was a symbol of her lifelong faith.

Christine is survived by her loving siblings, Robert Ricciutti (Sylvia), Joanne Edgar (Keith), Jeanne Iacobucci (Robert), and George Lusignan, as well as her sister-in-law, Nina Lusignan, and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.

Christine's kindness, devotion to service, and unwavering faith will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working with her, worshiping alongside her, and calling her a friend. May she rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 3rd at 11:00 am at St Philip's Catholic Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI followed by a private burial.

In honor of Christine's life, donations can be made in her memory to the American Lung Association or the Cancer Society, organizations that were close to her heart.
