David R. Babcock Obituary

David R. Babcock, 74, died at home on July 11, 2023, in Ashaway, Rhode Island.

Born in West Warwick, David was the son of the late Leroy A. Babcock and Evelyn (Cloutier) Babcock. He was predeceased by Claudia (Jamieson), his wife of 43 years, son Jesse D. Babcock, and grandson Michael DeLisle.

David was blessed with three daughters; Jennifer DeLisle and her husband Steve of Ashaway, RI, Rebekah Normandeau and her husband John of Plainfield, CT, and Michelle LaChance of West Warwick, RI. David will also be missed by his 18 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

David also shared a special bond and mentorship to two young men and their families whom he looked to as his children; Lee Erickson and his wife Melinda of North Kingstown with their five children, and Ben Mann his wife Jennifer of Westerly and their two children.

David believed in his country and was honored to serve in the USN as a Corpsman with the 3rd Marine Battalion. He was fondly known as "Doc" Babcock and was a true patriot in every sense of the word.

David was an avid outdoorsman being most at home in the woods. His love of the outdoors prompted his lifelong passion for logging; which translated into a rewarding career. He was an expert "Wood Cutter" who ran his saw to the end.

David also found great pleasure and success in bowling which gave way to his founding of the N.K.E.G. Businessmen's League at Kingstown Bowl. He enjoyed bowling and the many friendships formed as a member of the Masonic Lodge Number 28 Ionic Lodge of Greene RI.

A Funeral Service will be held for David at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The date and time to be determined.
