Dawn L. Olagbegi, age 68, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at home under hospice. 

Born on October 12,1956 in Foxpoint, Rhode Island she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend, and was deeply cherished by all who knew her.

For 35 years, she was the proud owner of Crayons and Lollipops Early Learning Center, where she dedicated her life to nurturing children, believing wholeheartedly in their bright futures and the importance of loving each one as her own.

Beyond her work, she was known for her warm spirit, her ability to make people laugh, and her gift of encouragement. She was always giving to others — whether through her delicious cooking or generosity. She loved people deeply and left everyone she met feeling valued and uplifted.

In her later years, Dawn dreamed of and planned for her retirement in Mérida, Mexico, where she hoped to enjoy the beauty and peace she so richly deserved.

She is survived by her children Brandi Venter and Kemi Olagbegi-Weston, son in laws Warren Weston and Lazaro Cabral, grandchildren Elyjah and Nova Venter and her grand dog Bugsly, brothers Jeffrey, Fraser, and Sean Venter, Ricky Costa, as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents Lois and Joaquin Gomes, Nelson Venter and brother Lloyd Waite.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 27th at Crayons & Lollipops Early Learning Center in Pawtucket RI. Guests may arrive at 12:00 PM to pay respects to the family, with the service beginning at 12:30 PM. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing.

Her faith assures us that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Though she will be dearly missed, her spirit of joy, generosity, and love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
