Eleanor Claire Rider, 90 passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 13, 2025, at Sunny View Nursing Center in Warwick, RI. Born in Peabody, MA, she was the daughter of the late Marie (Fitzmaurice) Collins and the late William Collins. Eleanor was blessed with four children: Clifford Rider and his wife Mary of Lewiston, Maine; Scott Rider of Wichita, Texas; Erin (Rider) McKenna and her husband, John Mckenna of Barrington, RI; and the late William "Randy" Rider. She also leaves behind her brother Robert (Bob) Collins of New Hampshire. Eleanor grew up with five other siblings: the late William, Marie, Jack, Barbara, and Leanne.
Eleanor grew up in Salem, Massachusetts attending Salem High School. She later worked at Beverly Hospital in their nursing training program. She was introduced to her husband, William while working at New York Hospital by two close friends. William H. Rider was attending Columbia University at the time and made her homemade meatloaf for their first date together. They celebrated over fifty years of marriage living in Massachusetts.
Eleanor worked as the Associate Director of Nursing at the Blue Hills Alzheimer's Care Center in Stoughton, MA. In her free time, she enjoyed going out in the sun, enjoying her coffee, reading and spending time with her six grandchildren: Christopher, Caitlyn, Lizzie, Christina, Brady and Aidan.
Family and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's Funeral Service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Redwood Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, RI.
