Elizabeth Dalton Johnston Latham Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Dalton Johnston Latham entered the world on December 20, 1935 in Scotland, and went on her first big life adventure when she immigrated to the United States aboard the Queen Mary. In her life she had many more adventures and played a variety of roles. Her most cherished roles were that of mother and Nonnie.

Betty was a voracious reader and journaler. Her curiosity about the world and thirst for knowledge was ceaseless. She found wonder and joy in the smallest of things, whether they be a beautiful flower she walked by or a cloud in the sky. She was a dreamer, who felt that the journey was just as important as the destination. She carried into each day an optimism that knew no bounds, with her morning mantra being "It's another day to be happy!" In spite of many life hardships and heartaches, that optimism never waned and was infectious to all who knew her. Her kindness, patience, and care for those around her, whether she knew them for a day or a decade, made others feel seen, appreciated, and loved. One of the most salient traits she was known for was her razor sharp wit and sense of humor, which never dulled.

Many loved ones and family members left this earth before her and will be thrilled to reunite with their beloved Betty. The family she leaves behind, including her daughters Kim and Sarah; her brother Scott and sister-in-law Renate; her nephews Erik, Mark, and Mike; her niece Yvonne (Von); her best buddy and dog Duncan; and her two other fur grandbabies Clarence and George will all take a vast reservoir of cherished memories of her into the future. In particular, she equipped her two daughters with life lessons so that they may thrive in the world, even though she has departed it.

When she left this earth on May 23, 2024 to go on her next big adventure, she was surrounded by family and love, with her hand held.

To honor Betty's life and impact, donations may be made to the amazing community of care that lovingly tended to her in her final days :
