Elizaveta (Lily) Mikaelian passed away at the age of 83 in Providence, Rhode Island after a long battle with cancer. Born in Ganja, Azerbaijan, she was the daughter of Armen Sarkissian and Anna Gorodkova.
Elizaveta grew up in Tbilisi, Georgia, surviving the latter years of Stalin's despotic rule. She excelled in academia and received a master's degree (with distinction) in philology. She worked as an editor for the "Evening Tbilisi" newspaper and organized guided tours around Tbilisi as well as other cities of the former Soviet Union. She married her husband Alexander on 15 September 1979 with whom she raised a son. In 1996 the family moved to Providence, RI. In 2019 Elizaveta became a grandmother with the birth of her granddaughter Lily.
Elizaveta is survived by her husband Alexander and son Tigran. Her services are private.
