Eusebio Rafael Rios, 74, passed away on March 30, 2026, in North Providence, Rhode Island, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Eusebio, affectionately known as "Cheby," was deeply beloved by his family. He was born in Barranquilla, Colombia to his parents Valentin Rios and Narcisa Sanabria and was one of five siblings. He was in the banking industry for decades and it was there that he met his wife of over 40 years. They raised their family in Medellin before he emigrated to the United States where he's lived for over two decades.
Known for his wisdom and kindness, he was a pillar of the family who lived a life of service to others and expressed his love through action. A man of great intellect, he was discerning and was a source of guidance and inspiration to those who knew him. Whether through his gift for storytelling or his example of strong character, he impacted and is remembered by many. His guidance, warmth, and presence will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ligia; his daughter, Juliana; and his son, Juan Carlos (Abigail). He was also a cherished brother to Gustavo, Valentin, Antonia, and Antonio and uncle to six nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer (655 Hope Street, Providence, Rhode Island) on Monday, April 6, at 11:00 am.
