On February 3, 2022, heaven gained another angel, Filomena"Fil Faria" Suriel passed at the age of 62. She was born on November 27, 1959, in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal to Filomena Moniz, and the late Jose Edmond Faria. Fil migrated to the United States when she was 16 years old with her mom and siblings. She is survived by her mother Filomena Moniz and step father Jose Moniz. Her three sisters Margaret Andrade, Ana Bisceglio, Maria Faria, and her two brothers Jose "Joe" Faria and the late Mario J. Faria. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Jessica Faria, and two sons Paul and Edgar Ramirez; and nine grandchildren: Aaron Perez, Crystal Perez, Anthony Perez, Alexander Perez and Kaylee Faria. Isaiah Ramirez, Alianna Ramirez, Arianna Ramirez, and Eslie Olivio-Ramirez; as well as her two Godchildren Steven Bairos and Justine Faria.

Filomena will be remembered for always being a loving person. She loved her family more than anything. She was the go to person and always a good listener. Being the eldest sister, she always made sure the family were together during the holidays and special occasions. Fil loved the Dominican Republic and had a passion for cooking. She always made sure everyone was fed. She lived for her kids and grandkids. She loved to sing and dance with her family and taught her kids the love of giving. In the words of her brother Joe, "She was a gentle giant." She has taught us all to be better people.

A funeral service will be held in her honor from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday February 9, 2022, at Olson & Parent Funeral Home, 417 Plainfield Street, Providence, RI.   All attendees are asked to where a mask upon entering the funeral home.
