Gary Mayoh Obituary

Gary John Mayoh of Johnston passed away at home on November 13, 2021, at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife Sandra (Gonzalez), his two brothers Robert Mayoh of Houten, the Netherlands, and Scott Mayoh of Providence, and nephew Jason Mayoh of Cranston and niece Daisy Mayoh of Lexington, South Carolina. He is also survived by his uncles Richard Mayoh of Conover, Wisconsin and John McKenna of Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Born in Providence on February 1, 1955, to the late Robert and Barbara (McKenna) Mayoh, he grew up in Cranston and served in the United States Navy. Much of his work career was spent in the fastener screw industry in California, Illinois and RI, becoming the third Mayoh to do so after his grandfather and uncle. He also worked as an indoor house painter prior to his retirement. A son, Daniel Mayoh, died in 1998.

Known to his family and friends as "Geej," he was a lifelong fan of Budweiser and Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and his beloved Bruins. He played pickup hockey into adulthood until back problems forced him to be content to watch the sport on TV. He was an expert gardener and raised a number of Golden Retrievers and Bassett Hounds over the years.

He will be greatly missed by his two brothers and extended family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Olson & Parent Funeral Home, 417 Plainfield St., Providence, RI.  Burial will be private.
