Gillian Landry (Foster) Cain Obituary

Every second mattered to Gillian. A devoted wife and mother, she savored all of her 39 years before colon cancer took her from us on November 29, 2024. She grasped for more memories, more bedtime snuggles with her favorites-David, Eva, and Poppy. She spent her last days at one of her favorite places, on Martha's Vineyard, with her family.

Gillian now lives forever in memories of picking apples with her children. As the warm sands of Anna Maria Island and Cabo. In the spooled thread her mom stitches into Halloween costumes for her girls. She's all the Hidden Mickeys. Gill is the Seine.

Born and raised Gillian Foster of Bradenton, Florida, beloved daughter of Charlene Pursell (nee Landry). A talented dancer and brave, high flyer, she boarded planes every summer as an unaccompanied minor to visit her grandma, aunties, and cousins in Rhode Island, where she ultimately made her home. As an adult, she'd jetset with David and her girls to France, Spain, Mexico, and Disney theme parks across the globe to fill their lives with magic. She was the best big sissy to Bailey and Braendi, who will cherish her always.

Gillian graduated from the University of Florida, where a Gator named David stole her heart. For nearly 20 years, David and Gillian celebrated everything, dressing fancy for Chinese take out and toasting the start of spring. They built a gorgeous, full life, made wonderfully whole by two little girls who, Gillian said, made her heart explode every day.

Gillian will live on in her husband David Cain; daughters Eva and Poppy; mother Charlene Pursell and husband Mike; mother-in-law Shelley Wallis and husband Jess; father-in-law David Cain and wife Judy; father David Foster and wife Donna; sister Bailey Picariello and husband Chris; sister Braendi Pursell; brother-in-law Ryan Cain and wife Susan; brothers-in-law Hayden Cain and Jeremy Wallis; sister-in-law Jennifer Siebenaler ... and many adoring aunties, cousins, nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by grandmothers Mary Landry and Agnes Pursell, grandfathers Charles Landry, David Pursell, and David Foster, Sr., aunt Laureen Fanning, and uncle Wayne Swanson.

A visitation will be held at Olson & Parent Funeral Home, 417 Plainfield Street, Providence, Rhode Island, 02909 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4th.

A celebration of life will be held at Swan Point Cemetery, Redwood Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence at noon on Thursday, December 5th.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the French American School of Rhode Island in memory of Gillian who spent many hours volunteering in the library and chaperoning field trips.
