Jerold Raymond Morris Obituary

 

Jerold R. Morris, of Coventry, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2025.  Jerry is survived by his wife Christine Luther-Morris and daughter Catherine. Born in Providence on June 18, 1954, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Riley) Morris.  Jerry grew up in the Garden City neighborhood of Cranston with his brothers Joseph, John, the late James Morris, and his sister Jane (Morris) Jackson. Jerry was also cherished by his other sisters Anne Luther and Susan (Luther) Anderson, as well as his brother-in-law David Luther, his wife Jeni and several nieces and nephews.

Jerold graduated from RIJC, the now CCRI, with a degree in drafting.  He first went to work at Electric Boat in Groton, CT drawing for the Trident submarine program. Jerry worked for many years as a tool designer for ETCO, finishing his career at AMC in the printer/folder industry until first becoming ill in 2007.

Jerry was a lifelong Red Sox fan. Until his illness, he enjoyed spending weekends at his family’s camp in Andover, MA working on projects and appreciating the wildlife and peacefulness of the pond.  From his bench outside his home, Jerry was known as “The Mayor”. He enjoyed chatting up the neighbors, offering advice and assistance when needed.

Jerry’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Hope Hospice for their kind and thoughtful care, especially Maggie, Jean-Marie, Barbara, Lynn, Paige, Wendy and Diedre. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks you to direct memorial donations to Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904. Visiting hours are omitted. A memorial/remembrance service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2025, at 10 am in the small chapel at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1 Rhode Island Ave, Johnston, RI. Cremation arrangements are through Olson and Parent Funeral Home, 417 Plainfield St, Providence, RI.
