John Hourigan Obituary

John Joseph Hourigan, born on February 26, 1940 in Oswego, NY, died on June 28, 2021 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. He was predeceased by his parents, John Joseph Hourigan, MD (1963) and Margaret Barnes Hourigan (2003) and a sister Elizabeth Hourigan Hennessey (2000).

He leaves behind one daughter - Shannon Estelle Hourigan and husband Timothy Robert Kachur; three sons - John Nicholas Hourigan and wife Annie Cooper, Jeremy Keith Hourigan and wife Robin Murphy, Evan Robert Hourigan and wife Shanthala Balagopal; as well as the mothers of his children Ann Gallagher Hourigan and Roberta Bell Hourigan. Additional survivors are five grandchildren - Olive Grace Hourigan, Nora Ann Hourigan, Maise June Hourigan, Milo Hourigan Kachur, and Hazel Hourigan Kachur. His remaining siblings are John David Hourigan and wife Karen Kauffman, and Margaret Hourigan and husband Nicholas Noyes, and his brother-in-law, Steven F. Hennessey and his wife Cynthia. Survivors also include one niece and four nephews; nine great nieces and nephews, and two great, great nephews. In addition, he leaves behind a cherished friend Tina Demers as well as devoted helpers Danita and Joe Stevens

John is a graduate of Spaulding High School (1958) in Rochester, NH. He earned a Bachelors degree at University of New Hampshire and a Masters degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He was very proud of his career as a Navy pilot.

His family is enormously grateful to the staff at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center for their meticulous and supportive care during his short stay with them.
