John Francis Murphy, 92 died at Tockwotton on the Waterfront in East Providence, RI on October 27, 2023.  He was the beloved husband of Alveretta Murphy (Tupper) for over 66 years.  Alveretta passed away on September 20, 2023, and John will be laid to rest next to his wife in St. Ann's Cemetery.

Born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts, John was the son of Lillian (Marks) and John Joseph Murphy.  He was the brother of Carole (Murphy) Lueders of Sandown, New Hampshire, and the late Karen M. Murphy. He will be greatly missed by his nephew CJ King of Nebraska, and nieces Kacie King of Belgium and Kim Stephen of New Hampshire. John was predeceased by his nephew John Francis King and niece Donna Hammerstein.
John Murphy attended Lynn English High School and graduated from Boston University and later earned his master's degree from University of Pittsburg. He continued his work in education working in the Computer Science Department at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.  

John Murphy and Alveretta (Tupper) Murphy were happily married for over 66 years.  They were married at St. Anthony's Church where John was an active communicant for many years.  

His Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 9:00 AM from the Olson & Parent Funeral Home at 417 Plainfield Street, Providence, R,I followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM St. Anthony's Church, 549 Plainfield Street, Providence. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on November 4, 2023, from 8:00 AM-9:00AM.
