Joseph R. Lazure (Joe) passed away peacefully February 18, 2023, at Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island. He is survived by his lifelong partner and husband, Charles M. Linzay; his sister, Mary Leboeuf and her husband, Roland Leboeuf, Sr. in Southbridge, Massachusetts; also his brother-in-law, Stephen F. Linzay in Louisiana; and sister-in-law, Carolyn G. Linzay in Louisiana. He leaves behind aunts, uncles, and multiple cousins and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ide (Bobee) Lazure; and his father, Francis Lazure.
Born and raised in Southbridge, Massachusetts he graduated High School and was given special acknowledgement for his skills in woodworking at Trade School. Joseph enlisted in the United States Navy, (Seabees) stationed at Gulfport, Mississippi and then overseas, where he honorably serviced his country during the Vietnam War. After his time of service in Vietnam, upon his return home to the United States, he acquired jobs as a Master Cabinet Maker. He was employed by Nahan Builders for specialized cabinetry building in New Orleans, Louisiana. he later moved to Alexandria, Louisiana and was employed with Gremillion Cabinet and Mill Works.
Joe and Mike had lived in New Orleans and Alexandria, Louisiana for 40 years and then moved to Danielson, Connecticut being their home for the last 10 year plus. They were wanting to share their time between their Southern and New England family. Joe loved feeding all outdoor birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and the regular crow family, George, Gracie and little Gomer. Joseph tried his best, through the VA Health Care system to overcome the complications from his illnesses. A special thank you from Mike to Dr. K. Richman for her special care and concern for Joe.
Burial will be private Graveside services for all family members. Location: The New Notre Dame Cemetery, 746 North Woodstock Road, Southbridge, Massachusetts. Officiating the service is Rev. Jane Newall. Working with the cemetery under burial restrictions during winter mode, we will provide family the time and date of services, in the near days ahead. After cemetery services, there will be a private dinner, in memory of Joe, held for all the family of Joe, in the Dining Hall building next to The Notre Dame Church located in Southbridge, Massachusetts.
