Joseph Arthur Narcisi, 96, of Cranston, Rhode Island, peacefully entered eternal rest at home on April 6, surrounded by loving family. He was the beloved husband for 70 years to the late Gilda (Ruggieri) Narcisi. Born in Providence, Joseph was the son of the late Quintillio and Antonetti (Archille) Narcisi.
Joseph was a selfless and dedicated family man. His life was devoted to his wife and children. Among other work, Joseph was employed at Sealol for over 35 years as a supervisor. He was a member of the VFW for many years, serving one year as commander. He loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren. Joe loved to travel and went on many beautiful trips with family and friends. He loved nature and truly enjoyed the ocean, the mountains, and wildlife. Joe passed on his love for the New Hampshire White Mountains to his children and grandchildren. He had the most dazzling blue eyed smile.
Joseph was a proud World War II veteran and a former US Marine Sergeant, 5th Marine Division. He heroically fought in the battle of Iwo Jima at 17 in hand-to-hand combat, and spent time in Japan. He received numerous medals and ribbons, including a Purple Heart decoration.
Joe leaves behind his loving children: Joseph Narcisi Jr. of Coventry, the late beloved David Narcisi, his wife Diane of Scituate, James Narcisi and his wife Cathy of Cranston, and Dianne Narcisi of Cranston. He was the loving grandfather of Lisa Narcisi Stewart, Eric Narcisi, Joseph Narcisi, Michael Narcisi, Gina Narcisi, and Kerri Narcisi, and beloved great grandfather of five. He was the dear brother of the late Evelyn, Adio, Metro, Corrado, Flora, Esther, Ida, and Euple. A special thank you to all of Joseph’s incredible caregivers for whom we could not have kept our dad at home without all of their love and tireless devotion.
Joseph’s Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will follow in the Chapel at St. Ann's Cemetery.
