In loving memory of Kathleen Rita (Fougere) Fernandes who passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, Rhode Island at the age of 75 after a long battle with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Kathy was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, mimi, and friend.

Kathy was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 20, 1949, the daughter of the late Joseph and Norma (Diaferia) Fougere. Kathy grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts and her first love was for music. She was born with a beautiful voice that she enjoyed sharing throughout her life, starting with minstrel and talent shows, attending the Boston Conservatory of Music, and going on to sing in churches in the choir and for weddings, and later in life in a duet called the "BobKats" entertaining at nursing homes all over Rhode Island.

Kathy also enjoyed her time with her family and extended family, always taking in a stray friend whether it be her own friend, her daughter's, or her granddaughter's. She was everyone's second mom and mimi. She was one of the most selfless people who would go above and beyond for anyone, making everyone always feel loved and part of our family. Kathy loved to bake for every occasion whether it was her famous chocolate chip cookies, pecan tarts, apple pie, or peanut butter pie, and she was always looking for new and different recipes to make.

Her forever happy place was always the beach where she would sit with a book soaking up the sun, saltwater, and smell of the ocean for hours. She loved to have the company of friends sitting, talking, laughing, and always making memories at her forever happy place.

Surviving Kathy are her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Sean Morrow, her granddaughter Amalia Rivera, and great-granddaughter Poppy Rose Rivera all from West Warwick, Rhode Island, her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Ellen Fougere from Connecticut, and her brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Elisabeth Fougere from North Carolina, as well as countless friends and extended family.

A Mass will be held at St. Rita's Church at 722 Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick, Rhode Island on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
