Leonard Whitman Erickson Obituary
It is with great sadness that I write to inform the BioMed community of the passing of Lennie Erickson earlier this month. Lennie was a Senior Mail Clerk in the Biomedical Stockroom for over 40 years. He retired in December 2021.
A native of Clare, Michigan, Lennie attended Brown University as an undergraduate student and settled in Providence among many friends and colleagues. A beloved member of the BioMed community, Lennie is remembered for his role as a team organizer of the "Bio Hazards" intramural softball team and his love for pick-up hoops. Lennie was a true polymath; with the delivery of mail and packages to biomedical labs, he frequently stopped to talk with faculty, staff, and students to discuss philosophy, literature, film, history, science, soccer and politics. He was also a source of information and personnel updates that helped us keep track of each other. Anyone who engaged with Lennie knows these conversations were fun, truly insightful, and often continued from one day to the next. He will be greatly missed by our community.
Services will be private.
