Michele-Elena Buldu Cabot Obituary
Michele-Elena Cabot, 57, of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, left this world on September 24, 2025, after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 18, 1968, in Holden, Massachusetts, to the late Thomas and Dolores Cabot, Elena lived out a life devoted to kindness. She had a heart of gold and a remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel special. She graduated from Johnson and Wales Culinary School and went on to cook at several exclusive restaurants, including the Clark Cook House and the Oyster Bar in Newport, RI. She expressed her passion for cooking and nutrition by sharing delicious, healthy meals and vibrant recipes with family and friends.
Elena is survived by her parents mother, Dolores Capel, stepfather, Antonio Capel, and stepmother, Antonia Cabot; her sisters, Celeste Cabot and Corinne Cabot-Miller; her step sisters Serafina Baronowski, Nicole Lian and Rochelle Bard; her nieces Shiloh Cabot-Miller, Zoe Dobson, Hannah Dobson and River Cabot-Dobson; her nephew, Justin Miller; and a large, loving extended family.
Elena's life was a canvas of generosity and meaningful experiences. She adored her nieces and nephews, and made sure they attended community events and gained skills she felt would enrich their lives. Elena supported them in countless hobbies and opportunities to promote their growth and personal development such as swimming lessons, horseback riding lessons, ski lessons and training at the YMCA to list a few. She also inspired curiosity and a spirit of exploration by taking them out on excursions to places she loved, like Beaver Tail State Park in Jamestown. She made sure they always felt valued and important. When they were young, they had trouble saying Elena, so they called her Lala. The name stuck and we all often called her by that name.
Family was central to Elena. She spent many summers living with family in Spain, and attended 2 years of school in Seville. Through these experiences she built deep connections to her Spanish roots and maintained close ties with extended family in Spain. The strength of these relationships made her the heart of the family. She kept us all communicating with each other over the years because she valued the importance of family above all else.
Known for her love of animals, she dedicated much of her time and energy to supporting animal welfare organizations. She encouraged everyone to make the world better for all creatures. When her neighbor passed away she continued to feed the squirrels and birds that had been so important to that person. Elena rescued a stray pregnant cat, who quickly became her loving companion. After the kittens were born, she didn't hesitate to adopt them into her life as well. She doted on them all, taking them for leashed walks around her home.
In accordance with Elena's wishes, she has been cremated. Elena's funeral service will take place at St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School St., North Kingstown, RI, at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 3. Additionally, a celebration of Elena's life will be held at the Beavertail State Park in Jamestown, Rhode Island, on Saturday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m. We invite all who knew and loved Elena to join us in sharing stories, playing her favorite music, and enjoying nature in her honor. This park was very special to Elena. She often visited it alone, or in the company of her beloved nieces and nephew. She loved nature and found peace in the rustling leaves and the rhythmic patterns of the ocean waves. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the World Wildlife Fund at (worldwildlifefund.org), where Elena's legacy of kindness will continue to support a more compassionate future for creatures that cannot speak for themselves.
Flower orders on this site after Wednesday, October 1, 2025, will be presented to the family at another time.
