Peter Andrew Carnevale Obituary

Peter A. Carnevale, 67, left his earthly body on February 14, 2023.

He entered this world on April 1, 1955 in Providence, RI-born to Edith A. Carnevale (Chapin) and the late Salvatore A. Carnevale. He was the brother of the late James S. Carnevale of Florida.

Peter was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island. Most recently, he resided in North Providence. But he grew up in Cranston, and spent the summers of his youth in Snug Harbor.

Peter could fill every room he entered-not just with his huge stature-but with his charismatic personality. He was a talented musician, he could tell one heck of a story, he loved animals (especially dogs)-and he had a passion for good food.

When you think of Peter, remember his booming laugh, his thick, wavy, black hair-and his signature charm. And remember him through music (especially when you hear a tune by Jay and the Americans, or when Peter, Paul, and Mary sing "I'm leaving on a jet plane").

Peter is survived by his mother Edith; daughters Vanessa Carnevale (son-in-law, Paul Renehan, Jr.), Jessica Forcier (son-in-law, Michael Forcier); grandchildren Lily, Dalton, McDermott, Theodore, and Olympia; and a large extended family.

It was Peter's wish to be cremated. Services will not be held at this time. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date to be determined.

Leaving on a Jet Plane: Song by Peter, Paul, and Mary

All my bags are packed,
I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin'
It's early morn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome
I could cry

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing

Every place I go, I'll think of you
Every song I sing, I'll sing for you
When I come back, I'll wear your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time
Let me kiss you
Then close your eyes
I'll be on my way

Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times, I won't have to say

Kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
I'm leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Leavin' on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe I hate to go
