Ronald Glosson Obituary

Ronald K. Glosson

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend

Ronald Kennington Glosson, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away after a brief illness on January 19, 2022, five days after his 81st birthday. Ron will be deeply missed by his wife Ann, their children Todd (Marianne) Glosson, Julie (John) Vanier, and Mollie (David) Forrester, and five grandchildren Lindsay and Katie Glosson, and Jack, Charlie and Bo Vanier.

Ron was the son of the late Charlie and Edna Glosson, and the brother of the late Martha Glosson Howard. He was born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina where he graduated from AL Brown High School. In 1963, Ron graduated from Duke University where he played football and enjoyed the friendships built around sports and Greek life. He maintained those friendships, and many more, until his final days. Ron’s domestic and international career in the furniture industry brought him and his family to New England.

Ron enjoyed an active lifestyle and engaged in an array of sports over the years, including running, skiing, road-biking, hiking, windsurfing and sailing. He was an avid reader and loved music of all kinds. During his life, Ron was a parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Barrington, where he served on the vestry, was a lay Eucharistic minister, and taught Sunday school.

Ron will be remembered most for his big, beautiful smile, his deep laugh and warm embrace. Ron never met a stranger and for him, connecting with others is what made each day worth living. Above all else, Ron treasured time spent with his grandchildren with whom he shared many days of laughter, hugs, jokes and fun. They openly recall how he embraced every opportunity to share his pride of, and love for, them.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held in the spring when all things are bright and beautiful.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to St. John's Episocopal Church Memorial Garden (Barrington, RI).
