Roxann Murphy (Sankus), age 57, passed away unexpectedly at Rhode Island Hospital on July 14, 2022. She was the beloved wife of Timothy Murphy for over 29 years and partners for over 38 years.
Born in Brockton and raised in Norton, Massachusetts, Roxann was the daughter of Richard Sankus and Rosemary Dean. She is survived by her sister Rhonda Lawlor and her husband, Shawn of Middletown; and sister Caroline Sankus of Norton. She is also survived by her half brother's John and James Rawlings of Michigan. She will also be sorely be missed by her extended family: David Murphy and his wife Christine, Jeanann Ladabauche, Daniel Murphy and his wife Diane, Lynn Vartanian and her husband Bob, Joel Murphy and his wife Janet, Charles Murphy and his wife Denise, Susan Kosowski and her husband Tom, and Raymond Murphy. Roxann was also close to the late James Murphy. She will forever be remembered fondly by her lifelong friends, Joni Killion and Charles Salisbury and many nieces and nephews.
After attending Norton High School, Roxann worked for over thirty years as a teacher and supervisor to special-needs adults in a group home setting. The residents knew her as friendly, outgoing and a great cook. She loved working outdoors in her garden, taking hikes and car rides with her Husky-mix dogs, Jax and Jinx. She loved life and appreciated old cars, repurposing furniture, real estate and was handy with tools to fix anything. She loved to entertain family and friends by the pool and was a self-proclaimed facebook addict.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 12:00 noon onward at 428 Pleasant Street, Pawtucket, RI. Please bring pictures, bathing suits and towels, and a dish-to-share, if possible.
