Syntyche Mashamba Obituary

Syntyche Mashamba was born January, 21 1975.  Her parents Margaret and Stephen, a seventh-day adventist pastor, welcomed her into the world at the Amaveni Clinic in Kwe Kwe, Zimbabwe.  She was the baby of the family, with her older siblings Evelyn and Beniah helping to clear her way.   Syntyche did well in school, and enjoyed athletic competition, sometimes coming home broken and bruised after a serious soccer game on school grounds.

Syndy had true empathy for all living things. She was an animal lover who preferred dogs to cats. Her sister remembers little “Tiki” crying as she officiated a funeral for the pet chicken “Musvuu.”  At Nyazura Adventist Secondary School her ambition was to be a veterinary surgeon.  A course in Travel and Tourism found her work as a travel agent and in 2000 she flew to America.  She followed her medical ambitions in the United States and was working full time as a Surgical Technician at Shriner’s Children’s Hospital while completing an MBA with a focus on Public Health.

Syndy enjoyed worshipping God, exploring Creation, and spending time with her family.  She was a member of the Lincoln Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Temple Emmanu-El in Providence and the First Unitarian Church of Providence,  She was a quick friend to anyone she met.  She had an open heart and a sharp mind.  She had a warm smile that shined love all around her.

Syntyche succumbed to cancer on January 12, 2021.  She passed in her sleep at her home in Pawtucket Rhode Island, surrounded by her family members Josh Hyman, Margaret Mandisasa Mashamba (12), Jacob David Hyman (13) and Jonah Travis Hyman (4).  She leaves behind her mother, siblings and son Tanatswa Joseph Mashamba (23) in Zimbabwe. Many hearts around the world echo sadness at her passing.  Her remains will be repatriated to Zimbabwe to await the coming of the Lord.

In lieu of flowers donations to a fund for the children will be accepted at the Lincoln Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, her funeral service will be limited to family and close friends.  Mask wearing, social distancing and capacity restrictions must be observed.
