Victoria Sarah Kachapis, age 52, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020, while in hospice care in Providence, RI with her loving family at her side. Born in Boston, MA, Victoria attended Sharon High School (MA) before graduating from Barrington High School (RI). She earned her Associates degree in Accounting from Mount Ida College in Newton and her BS in Nursing from California State University, Bakersfield. She was a tireless and caring nurse in California, Massachusetts, Florida, and Rhode Island. She loved her work and serving others - it gave her a great sense of purpose. She was the kind of person who cared for others above herself. She was a great conversationalist, loyal friend, and doting “Titi” to her niece and nephews. She shared her hobbies with them such as rock painting, crafting, gardening, crabbing, and fishing. Always a free spirit, Victoria saw the good in everyone and brought a smile and laughter to all who were lucky enough to know her. She valued all of her extended family members and enjoyed telling stories about past times together.
Victoria loved animals of all kinds, watching manatees in the Marco Island canals, and especially her belated pug, Sambuca. Her favorite movies included Fried Green Tomatoes, Where the Heart Is, and Steel Magnolias.
Victoria is survived by her parents Joyce L. and Paul Kachapis of Providence, her brothers John and Jesse Kachapis, her sisters-in-law Melissa and Danielle Kachapis, and her nephews and niece, Nicholas, Riley, Mason, Mari, and Theo.
A celebration of Victoria’s life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
