Lucius O. Bendigo, 91 from Providence, RI departed this life on
Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center after he
suffered a stroke.
He was born in Colon, Republic of Panama. He was the second of four
children pre-deceased by his parents Claude Bendigo and Eunah
McCalum; and brothers Colin Bendigo and Hugh Abednego and sister Inga Bendigo. Lucius and his brother Hugh left Panama for Jamaica at a veryyoung age to live with their grandmother Louisa McCalum. After school,the brothers helped their grandmother take care of her cows, something that Lucius enjoyed doing. After 13 years, he returned to Panama where he worked for the Panama Canal Company on the Canal Zone as a Line Handler and later on as an Upholster.
Lucius is also pre-deceased by his wife Verona Bendigo, and survived by
his five children Audry Bendigo, Anthony Bendigo, Andrew Bendigo,
Anselmo Bendigo and Alpha Bendigo; three grandchildren Andrew, Antonio
and Alena Bendigo; three great grandchildren, seven nieces and three
He was an avid body builder and enjoyed leading the congregation of
Church of Christ in East Providence in songs. A Memorial services will be held at Swan Point Cemetery, the Chapel of Hope and Memory, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, RI, on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10
in the morning.
