Robert H. Briggs Sr., 76, of Warwick passed away at Coventry Health Center early Sunday morning after a valiant fight with heart disease and multiple myeloma.
Bob attended North Kingstown public schools and served in the US Army stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ. He drove school bus for Bill Dwelly and worked as a part owner and mechanic at Babbie’s Texaco in Saunderstown. Bob was the caretaker of the River Farm for over 25 years and retired in 2008. In his spare time, Bob taught himself computers and enjoyed yard sales, antiquing, and photography. He was a devoted father and friend who will always be remembered for his tremendous work ethic, fabulous sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Bob will be greatly missed by his loving family: son, Robert H. Briggs, Jr, daughter in law, Renee Briggs, daughter, Amy F. Briggs, and their mother, Ruth Briggs. He was proud grandpa to Conner and Lilly Briggs. Bob is also survived by his older brother, Edward N. (Ted) Briggs of FL, and his children, Sarah Briggs of FL, and Robert Briggs of SC.
As per his wishes, there will be no visiting hours and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank all the compassionate caregivers and dedicated staff of Beacon Hospice who were a tremendous support team at a very difficult time. An act of kindness to your favorite caregiver or a donation to your favorite charitable organization would be an appropriate memorial tribute to him.
