Thomas Dermitt Mulligan, age 94, formerly of Benefit St, Providence, RI died peacefully at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Home and Hospice Care of RI, Providence RI after a brief illness.  Mr. Mulligan was the former owner of Swanezy Tool Company of Central Falls, RI.  

Mr. Mulligan was the husband of the late Sophie F. Mulligan.  He was born on July 23, 1921 in Attleboro, MA to Thomas J. and MaryAnn (McGowan) Mulligan.  He was also the stepson of Alice M. Mulligan.  In addition to his home in Providence, Mr. Mulligan lived at Traveler’s Rest in Dade City FL. 

Mr. Mulligan is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Mulligan) Simmons of Bellingham; his sons Thomas D. Mulligan, Jr. and his wife of Peekskill, NY, and Neil J. Mulligan of North Chelmsford, MA; and two stepsons, Ronald A. Dwight and his wife, Pamela of Providence, RI and Walter Clavette and his wife, Judi of Cocoa Beach, FL.  He was predeceased by his daughter MaryEllen (Mulligan) Eisner, his son James S. Mulligan and one brother, John Mulligan.

Tom was the loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and two step grandsons, and will be missed by his great grandchildren and many friends.   He enjoyed travelling abroad with his wife Sophie, as well as across the United States as members of the Traveler’s Rest Airstream Club.  Art and music were a big part of his and Sophie’s life together; in fact, he was a drummer in the Traveler’s Rest Swing Band for many years.  A communicant of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dade City, FL, Tom was also a member of its healing Ministry.  Tom and Sophie were devoted participants in the St. Mary’s community, as well as the Providence Art Club and the Tampa, FL Museum of Art. 

A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, RI 02906 at 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations:
